Minutes: February 14th, 2006 |
Catawba Island Township Trustees held their regular meeting on February 14, 2006 in the conference room with all present; also Pat Cerny, Randy Reidmaier, Jack Devore and John Smothers. Chairman Gary Mortus opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance. A motion was made by Robert Schroeder and seconded by William Rofkar to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as submitted and to be posted. All voted aye. A motion was made by William Rofkar and seconded by Robert Schroeder to pay the bills in the amount of $43,811.67. All voted aye. |

Correspondence included letter from Ottawa County Commissioners with a thank-you for the help and assistance in the past year with the LGF Funds and Issue II, Mark Mulligan and agents expressing gratitude for the contribution to the Task Force, U.S. Bankruptcy Court regarding Adelphia, Garner Sanitation Services regarding purchase of J.D. Portables from Dennis Sanitation, Ottawa Regional Planning Commission regarding Marshes Edge, Plat #6 and Auditor of State including Registration Form and Workshop Schedule for the Local Government Officials’ Conference on March 30-March 31. Randy Riedmaier representing the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Marine Patrol distributed copy of services performed in 2005 and is asking for help to support this program. Being Catawba and Danbury Townships have so many marinas they need the Marine Patrol. Robert Schroeder made a motion to donate $6000.00 to the Ottawa County Sheriffs’ Marine Patrol for services in fiscal year 2006. William Rofkar seconded and all voted aye. John Smothers presented a proposal for a dump trailer at cost of $4556.00 which could be used for picking up chips, leaves, weeds and branches in the trails, Vollmer property and Dan said it could be used in the Cemetery. Bill Rofkar asked why the dump truck couldn’t be used and John stated a truck is too big. Gary Mortus stated a decision would not be made tonight and suggested having a meeting with the Park Board to discuss what all can be done on the properties and asked John to contact the members for a date. Pat Cerny asked if Trustees talked to the man about making the new map? Gary said they did and he is working on it and will call her. William Rofkar stated maintenance has taken care of suggestions from Election Board at the Community Hall. Had a call from the Port Clinton Youth Soccer Association asking to use Heigel Park for special practices the last week of July and the first week of August.and I told her that would be no problem. Robert Schroeder asked John Smother if he would walk the perimeter of the Nature Preserve with him and they agreed to meet Thursday at 1:00 p.m.. Gary asked about the survey the County did on the Nature Preserve but no one knew where it would be so he will see if he can find it. Bob stated the Fire Department is ready to advertise for bids on the new fire truck. Clerk received a call from the Department of Agriculture stating all of Ottawa County will be under quarantine for the ash boer and it will be made public on Wednesday. Gary Mortus made a motion to adopt a Resolution to approve the permanent appropriations for fiscal year 2006 in the amount of $2,850,000.00. William Rofkar seconded the motion and the vote: G. Mortus-aye, R. Schroeder-aye, W. Rofkar-aye Gary stated Pat Atkins and Michael Bassett will be here to discuss school program. A motion was made by William Rofkar and seconded by Robert Schroeder to adjourn to executive session relative to property. All voted aye.
