Minutes: March 22nd, 2005
 

     Catawba Island Township Trustees held their regular meeting on March 22, 2005 in the conference room with William Rofkar and Robert Schroeder present; also Pat Cerny and Jeffrey Hickman.

     Chairman William Rofkar called the meeting to order.  A motion was made by Robert Schroeder and seconded by William Rofkar to approve the minutes of the March 8th 

business meeting and the March 15th Zoning hearing as submitted and to be posted.  Both voted aye.  Robert Schroeder made a motion to pay the bills in the amount of $64,907.03. William Rofkar seconded the motion and both voted aye.

     Correspondence included letter from Division of Liquor Control stating all liquor permits in the Township will expire June1,2005 to file complaints before that date, County Engineer’s Office including Funding information sheet and formula for disbursement of Township grants, check for $386,597.56 for first half real estate tax, check for $2103.66 for first half manufactured home tax and check for $3290.87 for semi-annual public utility tax reimbursement.

            Robert Schroeder reported on the emerald ash borer meeting he attended. Asked about $1000.00 contribution requested by Ottawa County Transportation Agency and would like to see so data on the use in the Township.  Bill stated it is a County program and the Township did not ask for it.

            William Rofkar reported on the Parks & Recreation meeting in Port Clinton that he attended and there will be another meeting tomorrow night.

      Bob stated there is still a problem on Wine Cellar Road with cars or trucks stopping on the road.  Had to call police to move truck so snowplow could get through.  Bill stated police should write tickets for it.

    Clerk reported on what Bayside Comfort said about the heating system and Bob will look where the ducts and dampers are located.

     William Rofkar stated twelve petitions with 208 signatures were received March 15 for referendum on James Rofkar property from Attorneys Richard Gillum III and Catherine Heigel.  Pat will deliver them to the Board of Elections for review.  Bill presented a quote from Norwalk Landscaping for grinding.

     A motion was made by William Rofkar and seconded by Robert Schroeder to award contract to Norwalk Landscaping for grinding of yard waste, chips and leaves at material site for $9782.00  The vote:  William Rofkar-aye,  Robert Schroeder-aye.

     Bill stated there might be a potential problem on a particular two and one-half acres parcel on Muggy Road zoned Agricultural.

     Jeff Hickman stated years back they got a call that along the Portage River there were two houses and between them there four horses and other farm animals. The Health Department came down and took care of the problem.

     Bill stated this is a small piece of property that has not been farmed and they decided to bring in farm animals.  Bob stated they had fruit trees on it.

     Zoning Inspector Pat Cerny stated there is a house in Colony Club, 1988 Carriage Lane, advertising weekly and monthly rentals  Bill advised her to send them a letter advising that is not permissible.

     A motion was made by William Rofkar and seconded by Robert Schroeder to adjourn at 8:00 p.m..  Both voted aye.
