Minutes: March 25th, 2008
 

The regular meeting of the Catawba Island Township Board of Township Trustees was called to order by chairman William Rofkar at 7:30 p.m. on March 25, 2008 in the conference room.  Present were William Rofkar, Robert Schroeder, Gary Mortus, Pat Cerny, Jack DeVore, John Smothers and James Stouffer.  The meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance and the swearing in of Pat Cerny as fiscal officer by William Rofkar as Pat Cerny took the oath of office.  Robert Schroeder made a motion to approve the minutes as presented seconded by Gary Mortus.  Motion carried unanimously.  Gary Mortus made a motion to approve the bills in the amount of $37,913.11 including the last payroll seconded by Robert Schroeder.  Gary Mortus, aye; Robert Schroeder, aye; William Rofkar, aye. 

Correspondence included a thank you from Mark Mulligan and the Drug Task Force for the Trustee’s donation and an announcement from the Frank Gates Companies /Attenta stating they will begin the transition to their new brand name, Avizent.

John Smothers stated the Park Board held a meeting March 24, 2008 and has a progress report.  Julie Schieldcastle will conduct a program Sunday, March 30th in the conference room in regard to Woodcocks and then go into the Preserve to watch the birds do a display.  John Smothers also stated the Park Board would like to girdle at least thirty Norway Maples that they have marked.   John Smothers also stated there is a group that wants to do a “dog park” in the prairie and this is just a heads up.

Gary Mortus asked James Stouffer if his fence project was completed.  Mr. Stouffer stated it is not and he would like to come down Cemetery Road and possibly do a sign on the corner.   Mr. Stouffer will bring drawings to make the adjustment to the PUD official. 

Pat Cerny stated the township received the first half of the real estate tax settlement of $476,664.56. 

Gary Mortus made a motion to forward the recommendations in regard to floating homes to the Zoning Commission for review and recommendations seconded by Robert Schroeder.  Gary Mortus, aye; Robert Schroeder, aye; Gary Mortus, aye. 

Gary Mortus made a motion for adjournment seconded by Robert Schroeder.  Motion carried unanimously.  7:45 p.m
