Minutes: April 8th, 2003

 
 
 
 

    Board of Catawba Island Township Trustees had their regular meeting on April 8, 2003 in the conference room with Gary Mortus and William Rofkar present; also Pat Cerny, James Stouffer and William Fritz.

 

     Chairman Gary Mortus opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance. Bids received for the shelter house in Heigel Park were opened and read as follows:

Bids will be reviewed and contract will be awarded at the next meeting on April 22nd.

 

     A motion was made by William Rofkar and seconded by Gary Mortus to approve the minutes of the last  regular meeting and the Zoning public hearing as submitted to be posted. Both voted aye.  A motion was made by William Rofkar and seconded by Gary Mortus to pay bills in the amount of  $30,223.11. Both voted aye.

Correspondence included letter from Adelphia regarding impact of proposed cable sales tax on franchise fee revenue,  Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield regarding  Magellan, the health service vendor for members, filing Chapter 11, the first half  Public Utility Reimbursement for amount of $3328.00, certificate of County Auditor that the total appropriations from each fund do not exceed the official estimate of resources,  2002 annual report of Ottawa County Recycling program, F.S.I. Disposal confirming Spring Clean-up prices and Ohio Government Finance Officers Association regarding membership.

 

      Gary Mortus welcomed Bill Fritz return and he will be mowing at the Cemetery again this year.

 

       William Rofkar stated needs a compost /mulch loading schedule and  agreed on  April 26, May 3, May 17, May 24 and May 31 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon for Catawba Island Residents.  Reported on drainage problem on Gardnew Lane to Winke’s Marina from Township pump on Northeast Road,  Talked to Gino in County Sanitary Engineer’s office about sewer and water to Heigel Park and  would like a letter stating  just what the use would be. Dropped price of sewer to $6993.76 and would like to pursue the restroom issue and will contact contractor to get cost  to get water and sewer there.

 

       Pat Cerny  asked about hours of employees for clean-up week and was advised  someone would be there from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday and  8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

 

      Gary Mortus stated web page is almost done.  Presented  from Bill’s Implement Sales on yearly trade-in of  tractor/mower with cost of $900.00 for a new one which was approved.  Presented another proposal from Bill’s Implement for another tractor/mower to used at the other little Cemetery and the Community Hall at cost of  $3550.00.

 

       A motion was made by Gary Mortus and seconded by William Rofkar to purchase a new Simplicity Presteige lawn tractor with a 44” mower deck  delivered for $6150.00 less trade-in of  1998 Simplicity Sovereign lawn tractor with a 48” deck at $2600.00 for balance of $3550.00.  Both voted aye.

 

     Gary presented information on a new dump truck which was tabled  until next meeting.  Zoning public hearing will be at 7:00 p.m. on April 22nd  on rezoning property on corner of Muggy Road and Northeast Catawba Road from R-2 to RE requested by Davenport Real Estate Development.
