Minutes: June 24th, 2008

William Rofkar called the business meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. in the conference room.  Present were William Rofkar, Robert Schroeder, Pat Cerny, Jack DeVore, Marv Grover, James Stouffer and Matt Montowski.  Gary Mortus was excused.  Robert Schroeder made a motion to approve the minutes of the last meeting seconded by William Rofkar.  All voted aye.  Robert Schroeder made a motion to approve and pay the bills in the amount of $90,559.75 including the payroll seconded by William Rofkar.  Robert Schroeder, aye; William Rofkar, aye.

Correspondence received:  Ottawa Regional Planning Commission annual statement in support of the Commission for the period July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009 in the amount of $1578.50.  Time Warner Cable “Spin-Off” explanation; Ohio Public Entity Consortium regarding home and auto discounts for their group members.  BWC confirmation of our new MCO,  CAREWORKS.

Matt Montowski stated he reviewed our insurance renewal and has some questions.
Why we do not have uninsured motorists insurance.  Also, earthquake coverage is not provided and Employment Practices Liability Coverage also not provided.  At the present time the township has 5 million dollars in liability coverage and it would not hurt to increase this.  Cemetery wall and sign covered?   Pat Cerny will contact our agent.

Marv Grover is worried about the school property and who owns it. He is also upset that the school closed and is there a deed to the property.  He is also worried if someone buys the school what will the zoning be changed to.  Also, there is nothing that states the building belongs to Catawba Island Township it belongs to the school board.  William Rofkar assured him it would never be commercial.

James Stouffer presented the Trustees with two plans, one for the expansion of the Community Hall parking lot drawn by Janotta and Herner and the other is exploring the possibility of erecting a “barrier netting” along the eastern boundary of the No. 7 golf hole because golf balls are entering the Cedarlane Campground and creating a safety issue.  Pat Cerny discussed this with Regional Planning and she feels this could be added to the PUD without a problem especially being that it is a safety issue.  This has also been discussed with Bill Moore from Cedarlane.  William Rofkar also stated he feels it falls under the minor deviation of a PUD.  Robert Schroeder also agreed.

Pat Cerny asked the Trustees to sign her Zoning Bond.

William Rofkar would like to purchase a new flail mower.  Price from Parsons for a Bomford mower would be $24,504.00 and the Dexter Company for a Tiger mower would be$12,315.00, a similar mower with a 15 foot reach.  William Rofkar made a motion to purchase the Tiger for  $12,315.00 seconded by Robert Schroeder.   All voted aye.  William Rofkar stated Portage Township has been kind enough to take care of some of the roads that we had to have cut because our mower was inoperable.

Meeting adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
