Minutes: July 22nd, 2008
 

            The regular meeting of the Catawba Island Township Trustees was called to order on July 22, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. in the conference room by chairman William Rofkar and began with the Pledge of Allegiance.  In attendance were William Rofkar, Robert Schroeder, Gary Mortus, Pat Cerny, Jack DeVore, Matt Montowski, Reggie Langford, and William Fritz.  Robert Schroeder made a motion to approve the minutes of the last meeting as presented seconded by Gary Mortus.
Robert Schroeder, aye; Gary Mortus, aye; William Rofkar, aye.  After examining the bills, Gary Mortus made a motion to approve and pay the bills in the amount of $46,652.43 seconded by Robert Schroeder.  Gary Mortus, aye; Robert Schroeder, aye; William Rofkar, aye.

            Correspondence received from Columbia Gas describing their new responsibility for repairing hazardous leaks on customer service lines.

            William Fritz stated the least expensive lawn sweeper is $239.99 from Tractor Supply.  Home Depot is $249.00.  It will be purchased from Tractor Supply.
     
            Reggie Langford stated there are Emerald Ash Borer on the island and he has traps  in various areas.  Reggie Langford stated the township spent $39,000 on the sraying last time and wants to know if he should start the procedure again.  William Rofkar is interested in the fact if the other townships are spraying.  William Rofkar has an easier time justifying this if other townships participate also.

            Gary Mortus stated the Fire Department would like to have time at the next business meeting on August 8 to discuss the fireboat issue. 

            Gary Mortus made a motion not to request a hearing for a liquor license transfer to Cedar Lanes Campground seconded by Robert Schroeder.  All voted aye. 

            Pat Cerny stated the township has received $12,307.40 from liquor license fee distribution from the Division of Liquor Control. 

            William Rofkar stated he would like to advertise a part-time office position to help Pat Cerny  in the front office for about thirty hours a week at a rate of $8.00 to $10.50 an hour based on experience. 

            Gary Mortus made a motion to adjourn seconded by Robert Schroeder.  Motion carried unanimously.
