Minutes: August 22nd, 2006
 

The regular meeting of the Catawba Island Township Trustees was held on August 22, 2006 at 7:30 p.m. in the conference room with all present.  Also present:  Jack DeVore, Pat Cerny, James Stouffer, Steve May, Tony Corona, Tom Bohlander, Reggie Langford, and Bryan Bobb.  The meeting was called to order by chairperson Gary Mortus and he began the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance.  Robert Schroeder made a motion to approve the minutes of the August 8, 2006 meeting and seconded by William Rofkar.  All voted aye.  William Rofkar made a motion and seconded by Robert Schroeder to pay the bills in the amount of $27,923.09.  All voted aye.

Correspondence included IGS Energy renewing agreement with a fixed price of $1.179 per CCF through December 2006; Lakeshore Chevrolet introductory letter; Ohio Deferred Compensation newsletter; License Tax Statistics Report; Port Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce newsletter and letter from Ottawa County Engineer stating our portion of the striping program is estimated at $4,107.41 and contract is awarded to Oglesby Construction. 

 

James Stouffer introduced himself,  Steve May, Tony Corona, Tom Bohlander and Bryan Bobb and requested the Trustees consideration and approval of the Final PUD Plan for the next phase of the Fairway Villas, titled as Phase VI/VII complete with drawings.  This phase includes up to 136 residential units, clubhouse and pool.  He also spoke of the golf course and the community’s acceptance of this project. There was discussion,  questions and answers.  The total golf course site is 200 acres, 130 acres of this is open space.  The residential piece is 70 acres.  A packet will be in the Zoning Office explaining this Phase.  William Rofkar made a motion to approve the final PUD, Phase VI and VII, Catawba Island Club seconded by Robert Schroeder.  All voted aye. 

 

Robert Schroeder stated they are going to do more work on the trials in the nature preserve.  If he needs any supplies he may purchase them from Gordon Lumber.  William Rofkar stated some dumpsters will be brought in for the removal of the building that has no roof.  John Hazard would like to lease the pole barn from the township that is on this parcel.  Robert Schroeder stated it could be discussed with the Park Board. 

 

Reggie Langford commented on the good job done by James Stouffer.  Reggie Langford also stated he will be working on a project for a “Fallen Hero” statue for the cemetery.  Robert Schroeder stated he should contact Jack Cowan in regard to this.  

 

Gary Mortus stated he spoke to Dave Brunkhorst and said the side stripes on Wine Cellar Road was a good idea and also suggested having signs made for Wine Cellar Road to make people aware that Wine Cellar is a township road. 

 

William Rofkar made a motion to adjourn and Robert Schroeder seconded.  All voted aye.
