Minutes: November 27th, 2007
 

The regular business meeting of the Catawba Island Township Trustees was called to order by chairman Gary Mortus as 7:30 p.m. in the conference room.  Present were Gary Mortus, Robert Schroeder, William Rofkar, Pat Cerny, James Stouffer and Dan Barlow.  The meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance. 

Robert Schroeder made a motion to accept the minutes of the previous meeting seconded by William Rofkar.  Robert Schroeder, aye; William Rofkar, aye; Gary Mortus, aye.  William Rofkar made a motion to approve and pay the bills in the amount of $158,659.88 including the payroll seconded by Robert Schroeder.  William Rofkar, aye, Robert Schroeder, aye, Gary Mortus, aye.

Correspondence included Firelands Medical Center price changes; Ohio Compost Association training schedule; Solid Waste newsletter; Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office 2007 October Month-End Report; Robert J. Hille, Treasurer notice for meeting of  November 29, 2007 Save Our Homes; Star Ohio, Richard Cordray, Ohio Treasurer in regard to their investment pool having no investments in mortgage-backed securities; a letter from Dan Barlow, Fire Chief to Police Chief Robert Rogers thanking him for officers Todd Parkinson and Sgt. Jim Stewart’s initiative and courage involving a propane leak on Northeast Catawba Road; StateWide invitation to annual product introduction show for the 2008 model year; David Brunkhorst, County Engineer’s copy of letter to Mrs. Norma Ochs, copied to the Catawba Island Township Trustees in regard to driveway/roadway concern per letter of October 17, 2007; David Brunkhorst, street lighting cooperative program with the county.

Dan Barlow stated the new fire truck is complete and there is pump training being conducted as we speak.  The plows are ready and the trucks are in good condition and  the brush is picked up. 

Robert Schroeder stated the re-roof on the chapel has started on the east end and the sheeting boards look good. 

Pat Cerny stated Mr. Ed Wiza has built a building and a fence and she will take care of this.  William Rofkar stated if the building and fence are for the cows it would be agricultural use. 

The next business meeting of the Trustees will be December 11th and the meeting of the 25th of December will be changed to December 24th at 11:00 a.m. in the conference room and an employee lunch to follow.  Robert Schroeder made a motion to adjourn seconded by William Rofkar.  Robert Schroeder, aye, William Rofkar, aye, Gary Mortus, aye.
