Minutes: December 14th, 2004 |
Catawba Island Township Trustees held the regular business meeting on December 14, 2004 in the conference room with all present; also James Stouffer and Reggie Langford.
Chairman Robert Schroeder opened the
meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance. A motion was made by William Rofkar
and seconded by Gary Mortus to approve the minutes of the last regular
meeting and the special meeting as submitted. All voted aye. Gary Mortus
made a motion to pay the bills in the amount of $37,851.40. William Rofkar
seconded the motion; all voted aye. |

Correspondence included letter from DeAngelo Brothers with quote of $2500.00 for spraying Bareground and Ditches including contract for 2005, invitation to retirement party for Robert Steinmiller, County Engineer and Dennis Thompson, Highway Garage Superintendent on Thursday, December 16 from 12:30 to 4:00 p.m. and for Sheriff Craig Emahiser on Wednesday, December 29 from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. both at the Court House, Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield regarding renewal and rates of insurance coverage, Board of Elections certificate of results on Zoning Referendum, Ohio Department of Natural Resources asking to nominate a qualified individual to serve on the advisory council coordinated by the ODNR Office of Coastal Management, memo from Amy Drummer regarding Christmas Tree Recycling with form to fill in the dates enclosed, Ottawa Regional Planning Commission regarding review of Re-plat of Lots 84-106 in Catawba Bay P.U.D. Reggie Langford recommended awarding contract to Bob Ruhe Ag Service in Leipsic, Ohio who was low bidder for gypsy moth spraying and the only bidder under the State price of $22.48 per acre. A motion was made by Gary Mortus and seconded by William Rofkar to award contract to Bob Ruhe Ag Service for $39,300.00 to spray 1760 acres on Catawba Island for the gypsy moth. All voted aye. William Rofkar stated there is a need to replace one police cruiser and Bob Roger’s request for a Ford Explorer or two new cruisers in 2005. The 2005 Ford Crown Victoria cruiser would be $20,147.00 and the 2005 Ford Explorer would be $20,649.00. Explorer would be handy for snow as it is four-wheel drive and feels it would be useful. Gary stated his personal opinion is get two new cruisers that doesn’t feel there is a need for the Explorer. A motion was made by William Rofkar and seconded by Robert Schroeder to purchase one 2005 Ford Crown Victoria and one 2005 Ford Explorer at State purchasing prices above. The vote: G. Mortus-no, William Rofkar-aye, R. Schroeder-abstain. William Rofkar withdrew his motion. Robert Schroeder presented quote for $950.00 from Sheppart Tree Service to remove two trees and one broken stump at the Chapel on Porter Road which was approved. Called Hylant Insurance about damage to a garage during wind storm from trees and read letter in reply stating it would not be covered under Township insurance. Stated Community Hall lights will be replaced by maintenance in January at cost of approximately $3000.00. James Rofkar property to be rezoned was discussed. A motion was made by Gary Mortus and seconded by William Rofkar to adjourn. All voted aye.
