Correspondence

The following correspondence was received by the township and read:

A letter from Dave Downing requesting use of the Community Hall for a family gathering on December 24, 2012.

The Trustees agreed Dave Downing could use the Community Hall and waived the fee.

Fire and Safety

Fire Chief John Gangway said the International Scout is at Lakeland for repairs. He presented an estimate of $2,000 for repairs which included replacing the clutch, rebuilding the alternator, rebuilding the carburetor and replacing the water pump.

The Trustees agreed to the necessary repairs on the International Scout.

John Gangway said he will submit the final invoice for the turnout gear by the next meeting. He said he was holding up payment due to some problems but everything has been delivered and approved at this time.

John Gangway said they would like to donate the old turnout gear to South America through the Rotary program. He said they are not permitted to donate anything within the United States that is over 10 years old.

Gary Mortus made a motion to contribute the outdated turnout gear to the Rotary to be donated to the MESA group. Matt Montowski seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.

Maintenance

Maintenance Supervisor Dan Barlow said the 2004 International truck will be picked up by Henderson to have the box replaced with a stainless steel box as previously discussed and approved. He said it will take approximately one week to complete.

Dan Barlow said the columbarium project has begun and the pillars are in place. He said the ground work and posts for the roof will be completed next.

The asphalt work and road patches by Kreimes will be completed by the end of the week. He said when the sections on Sloan and Moores Dock Roads were completed they had to cut areas out where the roads were striped. Dan Barlow said there will be an additional charge of $350 to restripe the road sections. He said there is “no passing” in those areas and he does not want to leave it as is.

The Trustees agreed the roads should be restriped as soon as possible.

Dan Barlow said he met with Chris Fox, the contractor who is going to perform work on the breakwall for Marine Max. Dan Barlow presented concerns regarding the township’s West Harbor boat launch ramp and breakwall. He said it would be good to perform the necessary work while there is access due to work being performed on the Marine Max breakwall. Dan Barlow said he would also like to repair the gravity fed pump and line while the water is low in the event the water rises again. He said Chris Fox is putting together an estimate for the improvements.

Dan Barlow said there is an alternative steel device available to bridge the gap when trailers are putting boats into the water. He said now that the water level is low he thinks the bridge would be a better solution than trying to haul in stone that would eventually wash away. Dan Barlow said the device can be pulled from the water for winter storage and to prevent damage. He said he will get more information to present on the steel device.

New Business

Matt Montowski read a letter of resignation effective immediately from Will Moore who served on the Zoning Commission Board. Will Moore said in the letter it has been his pleasure and privilege to serve his community and is grateful to have had the opportunity to do so.

Karen Shaw said notice was received for the coming year of the budget for the taxing district for support of the general health district for the fiscal year 2013 will be $50,194.60.

Karen Shaw said a reimbursement check was received for the property damage sustained at the West Harbor Boat Launch.

Karen Shaw said she sent drawings of the new columbarium niches to CIMS to get them added to the cemetery mapping system.

Gary Mortus made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Matt Montowski seconded the motion.
All voted aye. Meeting adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
