Meeting Minutes

February 23, 2016

The regular business meeting of the Catawba Island Board of Township Trustees was called to order by Chairman William Rofkar on Tuesday, February 23, at 7:30 p.m. in the conference room.

In attendance were: William Rofkar, Gary Mortus, Matt Montowski, Karen Shaw, Dan Barlow, John Gangway, Allen Stryker, Dolores Segaard, William Segaard, Diane Belden, Randy Riedmaier, and Jack DeVore

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all.

Gary Mortus made a motion to approve the February 9 Board of Township Trustees regular meeting minutes as presented. Matt Montowski seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.

Matt Montowski made a motion to approve and pay the bills, including the last payroll, in the amount of $47,925.11. Gary Mortus seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.

Correspondence

The following correspondence was received by the township:

A letter from the Ottawa Regional Planning Commission regarding the Fiscal Year 2016 Community Development Block Grant Program.

A letter from the Ottawa Soil and Water Conservation District regarding a variety of trees being offered to Ottawa County townships, villages and cities at a 10% discount.

Notification from Lake Erie Shores and Islands regarding Social Media classes being offered at the Liberty Aviation Museum February 25, 2016.

A letter from Coldspring announcing a new regional sales manager.

Fire and Safety

Fire Chief John Gangway presented a proposal from JVS Garage Door to replace the east entrance door at the fire station and make repairs to the west and south doors.

Gary Mortus made a motion to contract with JVS Garage Door to replace the east door and make repairs as outlined in the proposal for $3,056. Matt Montowski seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.


Maintenance

Trustee agreed to have Port Clinton Glass replace five steamed insulated windows at the maintenance building for $791.32.

Gary Mortus made a motion to approve the purchase of two Ferris mowers from Bill’s Implement through the trade-in program with a total cost of $3,600 per provided quotes. Matt Montowski seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.

Zoning

Matt Montowski said the training planned for zoning members has been rescheduled from Wednesday, March 9 to Wednesday, April 13, 2016.

New Business

Trustees agreed to decline the dual authorization for payment center services being offered through Huntington Bank.

Matt Montowski made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Gary Mortus seconded the motion. All voted aye. The meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
