Special Meeting

Catawba Island Township Trustees held a special meeting on Tuesday, March 12, at
6:00 p.m. in the conference room of the administration building. The purpose of the meeting was to meet with members of the Catawba Island Volunteer Fire Department to discuss the prospect of EMS billing.
In attendance were Gary Mortus, Matt Montowski, William Rofkar, Kevin Wylie,
John Gangway, Will Moore Jr., Tom May, and Ruby May
William Rofkar expressed the need to generate additional revenue for fire department expenses.
Ruby May of Beacon Medical Billing, LLC gave an overview of operations including services provided, potential revenue to the township, and the cost of services.
Fire Chief Kevin Wylie answered questions regarding current EMS operations.
A lengthy discussion took place regarding the operations of both Catawba Island Volunteer Fire Department and Beacon Medical Billing.
Billing options to consider include soft billing all patients, hard billing all patients, or soft billing residents and hard billing non-residents.
Another meeting of the same nature will take place at 6:00 p.m. in the conference room of the administration building on Tuesday, March 26. A different billing company will be present.
No decisions or motions were made and the meeting adjourned at 7:10 p.m.
