Catawba Island Township Board of Township Trustees

Special Meeting

March 19, 2024

A special meeting of the Board of Trustees was called to order by Chairman Diane Belden on Tuesday, March 19, at 8:45 a.m. in the conference room of the administration building. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss township roads with representatives from the Ottawa County Engineer’s Office.

In attendance were: Diane Belden, Matt Montowski, William Rofkar, Mary Jane Porozynski,
Kevin Johnson, John Gangway, Ron Lajti, Craig Miller, Matthew Lenke, Jacob Market,
Billy Market, and William Baker

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all.

Billy Market and Jacob Market discussed parking and traffic flow in and around the Miller Ferry dock.

A lengthy discussion took place regarding the increased traffic at the north end of Catawba Island and considerations for future improvements.

William Rofkar said the main Colony Club drive should be considered for resurfacing in 2025 and Sand Road in 2025 or 2026. He said the township could possibly coordinate with Portage Township when resurfacing Sand Road.

Craig Miller agreed resurfacing the main road in Colony Club is important and Sand Road is getting close to needing resurfaced.

William Rofkar said Karwood and Linda should be considered for resurfacing in 2026 and 2027.

A lengthy discussion took place regarding Basin Road.

A discussion took place regarding the installation of fiber in the township.

A lengthy discussion took place regarding drainage in various township locations.

No motions or decisions were made by Trustees.

Matt Montowski made a motion to adjourn the meeting. William Rofkar seconded the motion.
All voted aye. The meeting adjourned at 10:45 a.m.
